It was a cold, crisp winter's morning, when we travelled to one of the more unusual wedding venues in Shropshire, the Hundred House Hotel. The countryside seems so pleasing, with a piercing blue sky above, as we passed from south Staffordshire to Shropshire. Upon arrival there was still frost on the car park but when we entered the main entrance of the hotel, we were greeted by a lovely roaring fire, how nice on a cold winters day!!! The quirky room was bedecked with stained glass doors, blue & white pottery & pumpkins, all set for a cosy winters wedding! We settled down to capture our first Hundred House wedding photography shoot.
Upstairs to the bridal suite there was an Aladdin's cave of dark wood corridors with herbal room names, quintessentially English, antique chandeliers lighting up the way. The bridal suite comes complete with a swing, where lovely bridal portraits can be captured, with true friends as bridesmaids doting over the bride to be...busy applying make up, spraying perfume, laughing & joking! When it comes to wedding photography, the hundred house provides its own unique charms.
Full of emotion & anticipation the bride & her family, enter the converted 17th century tithe barn, the designated place where the marriage ceremony takes place...Underfloor heating keeps this building very toasty & the stringed lights & wedding décor give it a warm amber glow!
After the wedding ceremony & the exchange of vows, suddenly our lovely couple are exiting the room through the ceiling high glass doors, getting covered with bubbles, from bubble-blowing family & friends, happily congratulating the newly weds! There is something very captivating taking photos of people who are truly in love, their glances, their expressions to one another, fleeting & transient, we feel very privileged to produce photography that freezes those moments in time....
Laughter, fun & excitement continues as we all parade round to the water feature in the grounds of the hotel. These gardens hold many fanciful features even in the dead of the winter, which lend themselves beautifully to gorgeous wedding photography!
We love the benefits of natural light & around mid afternoon we observed, that the sunlight was simply flooding through the top window in the converted tithe barn, bringing about a beautiful flush of glowing light on the wooden panelling, making a classic bride & groom shot on top of the staircase was an absolute must.
Next a delicious traditional roast beef meal which carefully accommodated our dietary restrictions, we were back on our feet capturing the speeches & evening events. Many hours later we left tired but very satisfied that we had done our very best to capture beautiful photography for our couple who are very much in love....
